Langwell, James E., 85, peacefully passed away, Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle.

Born in Castle, Oklahoma, he moved at an early age to California where he met his wife of 63 years, Shirley J. Langwell (nee Kleist) and went on to have three children, Susan M. Langwell, Ronald (Ruby) Langwell, and Lorraine (Achim) Fisher. A devoted grandfather to James C. Langwell, Thomas R. Langwell, Laura I. Gosnell, Katharine L. McCay, Anne E. Fisher; loving great-grandfather of Hunter, Jude, Ava, Layla and Jeffry; son of the late Ira and Thelma Langwell; brother to Viola, Mary Jane, Marjorie, Robert and Barbara.

After serving his country with the United States Navy during WWII. He had a successful 42 year career with General Motors, retiring as the General Superintendent at the Wentzville, MO Assembly Plant. He was accomplished in many areas, from bowling, were he was especially proud of winning the Delaware State doubles bowling championship, to refinishing antique furniture and sport fishing. He took great pride in everything the he did and his notoriously quick wit often brought smiles to everyone who knew him. Following his retirement in 1989, he and his wife moved to Lake of the Ozarks where they created cherished memories with their family and traveled the world, living life to the fullest. He was loving, generous and a charitable man, helping both stranger and friend alike. He will be greatly missed.

Services: Funeral service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Thursday, 11:30 a.m. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Flowers appreciated, if desired, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the Parkinson's Foundation.
