Allyn Charles
Bennett, Jr.
May 24, 1944 — Aug 27, 2026
Allyn Charles Bennett, Jr., aged 82 years, resident of Chesterfield, Missouri, died following a stroke on August 27, 2026, with family by his side.
Allyn was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on May 24, 1944, to Allyn C. Bennett and Margaret E. (Thurston) Bennett. He graduated from Temple High School in 1962, the University of Texas in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, and Texas A&M University in 1968 with a Masters in Computing Science. He worked in computer programming and information technology before making a career change to banking and trust administration. He retired in 2013. Allyn was also a veteran, serving as an officer in the United States Navy on active duty for four years, including deployment in the Vietnam theater aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise and achieving the rank of Lieutenant (JG).
Allyn was married February 15, 1974 to Carol Anne Housey at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. They were happily married for 52 years. Allyn is survived by his wife Carol, his son Michael Bennett and daughter-in-law Debbie Lee Bennett, his daughter Lisa Bennett and son-in-law Lee Thompson, and his four grandchildren, Cameron and Madeline Bennett and Dylan and Everett Thompson. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Bennett and his sister Kathy Bennett Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James Bennett and Stephen Bennett, and his granddaughter Juniper Bennett.
Allyn was a beloved husband, father, and "Pop," whose devotion to his wife and family remained steadfast even in his battle with Alzheimer's disease at the end of his life. Allyn loved music - playing the piano, dancing, and sharing songs and records with his children throughout their lives. He also loved the outdoors, enjoying many trips to the beach, state and national parks, and the local botanical garden and nature reserves with his family. He will be forever remembered by his kids as an incredible listener, giver of advice, and co-creator of projects; his grandkids as a jokester and sought-after playmate; and his wife as a constant and loving companion.
