Obituary

Murray, Ann Snyder (nee Boll), baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Monday, November 22, 2021.  Beloved wife of Glenn Murray and the late Alan Snyder; loving mother of Christopher (Jennifer) Snyder, Carrie (Lee Dicklitch) Snyder and Katie Snyder; dearest grandmother of Adilyn Snyder, Eloise Murray and Frederick Murray; sister of Evelyn Boll and the late Bill Boll; our dear cousin, friend and teacher of many.

Ann was born November 2, 1954, in Springfield, MO to Joseph and Lucille Boll.  As the baby of the family, Ann was 12 years younger than her best friend and sister Evelyn with her brother Bill in between.  Evelyn has always said Ann received the most attention since their father was able to be home more during that time in his life after proudly serving our country.  Ann led an active childhood, had many friends and was very involved in Lassies (drum corps) throughout high school.  She was a lifelong artist who expressed herself through her creativity in painting, sewing, knitting and music.  Ann graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield MO. She continued her education at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State) where she met her future husband, Alan.  They married in 1977 and eventually settled in St. Louis.  Together they had three children, which became Ann's focus in life.  She was a busy mom, shuffling kids' schedules jam-packed with sports and activities.  She was very involved as a scout leader, PTO parent, soccer, softball, basketball and volleyball mom/superfan, show choir enthusiast and more.  In addition to never missing an event, she hosted meals for the teams at their house and went on countless weekend trips for games and events.

In between all of the sports and extracurricular activities Ann took classes at night so that she could fulfill her calling as a teacher. She taught at every level from preschool through junior college and continued her education with her masters plus 30. She spent the majority of her career at Parkway West and finished her career as department head.   As involved as Ann was with her own children, her love also poured out to her students. She was dedicated to her classroom, her students' futures and all the Parkway West staff.

In 2000, Ann lost her husband of 23 years to pancreatic cancer. With all the weight already on her shoulders, she took the reins of the family as a single parent and moved forward without missing a beat.  Even though she struggled with his loss for a long time, she always put her family and job first. Even when hurting, she relentlessly led by example with love.

In Ann's very limited spare time, she was an avid tennis player, playing in the Big Bend Woods tennis club.  She loved playing cards, especially spades.  She was involved in a sewing club, knitting club, and smocking guild. She always had many sewing and crafts projects ongoing. She played in a bowling league and also worked in a jewelry store and an embroidery shop. In addition, Ann volunteered much of her time in organizations including Meals on Wheels, The Welcome Club, and for her church leading marriage encounter classes and a bereavement group.  She made many friends through her numerous activities and cherished spending girls' weekends away as well as get-togethers with the neighbors. Ann had an endless supply of love and poured herself and her heart into life.

She re-married in 2006 to Glenn Murray. They found joy in the many things they had in common including tennis, teaching, cards, etc. After several years, they retired from their teaching careers.  With their newfound time, they traveled, spoiled their grandchildren and found numerous activities to keep them busy, including pickleball.

Ann's three grandchildren were the sparkle in her life.  She was a proud "Mimi" and loved each one very much.  Once again, she used her creativity to whip together outfits with a little fabric and a roll of yarn. She even created a lions' den with some material and an old card table!

Ann was forever a true host, always sharing everything she had with everyone. She loved bringing everyone together and even convinced Evelyn to move from Springfield to St. Louis to spend more time as family. She was known for her compassion and care and her smile could bring joy to any room. Even when she was suffering from dementia, a simple tickle or silly act from her kids would bring her right back.

Ann's love, compassion and patience were seen again through her daughter Katie. She provided Ann the best care, allowing her to stay home until the end.

She will forever be missed and never forgotten. We LOVE you Mimi.
