Obituary

Benjamin Marlow Knudtson was born in Page, Nebraska to Ben and Milda (nee Schmall) Knudtson as 3rd of 9 children and passed away at the age of 88 in Ellisville, Missouri.

Benjamin married Audrey (nee Phillips) in 1956 and they had 2 children (Ben and Greg), 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.  Audrey sadly passed away in 1983.

Benjamin's oldest son Ben married Lana Jordan and blessed him with Jeremy (Bethany) and four great grandchildren: Sam, Noah, Levi, and Lena.  Ben's second wife Monica Spoede blessed him with Adam (Callie) and Melinda along with great grandchildren Aubrey and Trystan.  Ben married a third time to Renae Schuetz.

Greg married Brenda Young who blessed him with Andrew and Amy (Michael) and great grandchildren Michael, Tristan, and Ivy.
In 1985 he married Angela (nee Barlow) Bruhn.  Angela's beautiful daughter, Kelly Bruhn (Brent) was added to the family providing Benjamin's sons with a sister.

Benjamin helped his father on the farms he grew up on and worked a tractor at the age of 8.  His first job was as sweeping floors at an automotive repair shop and working as a mechanic, saving his money and buying the family a car at a very young age.  He graduated from high school in Norfolk, NE, in 1955.  After graduation he went to work for Uncle Sam Breakfast Cereal, after which he went to work for the US Postal Service as a clerk.  For 10 years he worked as a Railroad Post Office clerk running from Omaha NE to Denver CO and sorting mail for cities in between.  He shifted to a time keeper for a year and then became a US Postal Inspector assigned to Des Moines, IA.  In 1969 he transferred to St Louis, then in 1986 he transferred to Orlando, FL.  He retired in 1988 after 21 years as an inspector and 31 years total service in the USPS.  In 1989, he worked as an investigator for the Board for Healing Arts for the State of Missouri and retired from that position in 1993.

Benjamin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and helping others any way he could including becoming a handyman to the elderly in his community after retirement.  He was a strong mechanic, had a fascination with trains, and enjoyed playing ping pong and pool.  He bought a plane, became a pilot, and visited family as far away as California.  His grandchildren and great grandchildren had a special place in his heart.  He will be missed, and today there will be a hole in a lot of hearts, but he will be with us always in our memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents Milda & Ben, his first wife Audrey, his sisters Betty, Carol, Jerri, Marilyn and Donna, his brother Bob and his oldest son Ben.  He is survived by his second wife Angela, his son Greg, daughters in law, step daughter Kelly, sister Verna, brother Dick, all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as too many nieces and nephews to name.
