Betty E.
Feld (Nee Eifert)
Jul 29, 1929 — Jan 19, 2026
St. Louis County
Betty E. Feld (nee Eifert) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026 at St. Agnes Home. Betty lived a life that made everyone she touched feel a little brighter.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Richard John, devoted mother of Ann Feld, Sue (Rick) Lauer, Dick Feld, Judy (Dan) Naunheim and Joe Feld; grandmother of Mike (Natalie) Lauer, Tim (Angie) Lauer, Katie Naunheim, Danny Naunheim and Emily Naunheim; great-grandmother of Jackson Schlechte and David Lauer; sister of the late George Eifert.
Betty was born in North St. Louis on July 29, 1929. She quickly developed a love of the piano from her mother Hazel that continued her entire life. Betty attended Nativity Grade School where she found her passion for learning. Outside of school, Betty kept busy visiting her many aunts, uncles and cousins, swimming with her father Lester, watching movies at the local theater and avoiding the constant pranks of her brother George. Betty graduated from Laboure High School in 1947 and Fontbonne College in 1951 with a B.S. in Economics.
Betty began work with Union Electric (now Ameren) after college and continued until shortly after her marriage to Richard in January of 1954. Betty then transitioned to homemaker and worked tirelessly at this calling for the next 50 years. Betty had the knack of juggling five kids, cooking, cleaning and carpools while making it all look easy. Betty also managed to squeeze in her daily newspaper (always obituaries first as a nod to her Irish heritage), bridge, racquetball, golf and neighborhood walks whenever possible. Even with all this, Mom was never too busy to offer a kind word or big hug when needed. We'll miss this most.
The family offers a special thanks to St. Agnes Home. The Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus and the staff filled Betty's final years with joy and meaning. We are eternally grateful.
