Obituary

McClanahan, Carol Anne (nee Slack), passed away, Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Carol was a caring and loving wife to her husband Gene McClanahan for 63 years. A caring and loving mother to her son Michael for 53 years.

She was always a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Tyler gene, Jesse stone, and Noah Michael. And a loving great grandmother to Ari stone and Eden ilya. She also leaves behind many friends and family whose numbers are too great to list!

Carol loved her dogs! I can't remember a time when we didn't have one. She also loved to spend her summers during college working at the "Stanley" hotel in Estes Park CO.

She will be deeply missed by all and always be kept in our thoughts and prayers.

Carol's grandson Jesse had something very special to add for his Grandmother. "Grammy" Carol was a kind and thoughtful person who deeply cared for her grandchildren. I have many fond memories of sitting with her, discussing my future, her past, and myriad other topics. She was always asking the best questions to keep the conversation going. While I am sure she wanted to talk about me, I was always more interested in the past. We shared a passion for history, and her stories of her parents and her childhood could bring you back to those times in a remarkable way.

When I was in high school, I was asked to write a story about my grandparents' time in high school. Most kids moaned and groaned, but I had already been preparing for years to tell their story. As soon as I got out of school that day, I called her and told her how excited I was to write about her and my grandpa's past, and I like to think she was just as excited as I was. Over the next few weeks, she shared with me photos, yearbooks, newspaper clippings, you name it! It was a formative project and solidified my love for history.

She has passed, but my memory of her will always remain.
