Obituary

Catherine "Cathy" Marie Bodine (née Zahn), passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026. She was born on April 22, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Sylvester and Louise Zahn.

Cathy was the beloved wife of Bruce D. Bodine for 52 years of marriage and yet she was never just his wife, she was always "his girl"; loving mother of Kimberly (Chris) Funkhouser, Michelle (Michael) Bolton, and Chrissy (Ryan) Brown; and cherished grandmother of LeAnn, Josh, Ted, Caleb, Addie, Weston, Haven, Joey, and T.J. She was the dear sister of Lorraine Zahn, Debbie (Dan) Smith, and Alan (Andrea) Zahn, and was preceded in death by her siblings Phil (Sharon) Zahn, Rich (Lesley) Zahn, and Tina (Brad) Williams. She was a treasured aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cathy passed surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy defined by fierce love, unwavering strength, and a lifetime of caring for others.

As the eldest of seven siblings, Cathy naturally embraced the role of protector and guide, offering constant support and encouragement to her brothers and sisters. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her family. She opened her home to her children's friends, volunteered her time sewing flags for the LHS color guard, and could often be found at softball games-faithfully seated under an umbrella with a first aid kit and extra sports drinks-ready to care for anyone in need.

Cathy's life was a testament to perseverance, generosity, and faith. She showed those around her how to be strong yet gentle, how to love God and family deeply, and how to give selflessly in times of need. Her presence was a source of comfort, and her impact will be felt for generations.

Her family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with loved ones she held dear and now rests in eternal peace. They are especially grateful for the blessing of sharing in her final moments-hearing her words and expressing their love, a gift they will cherish always.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family holds tightly to the lessons she taught and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy will live on in all who knew her.

Cathy will be deeply missed and forever loved.
