Obituary

Converse, Charles Morse, age 95 of Ballwin, Missouri, formerly of Edina, Minnesota and Tucson, Arizona, died peacefully at home on May 25, 2026. Born on March 29, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota, he was the elder child of Edwin and Miriam (Morse) Converse.

His early life was spent in Minnesota's Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis where he was joined in the family by sister Ann. After attending grade school and junior high in the Edina public schools, he graduated from high school at The Breck School before continuing his education at Yale University. After graduating in 1953 with a degree in Economics, he enlisted in the United States Army where he trained as an artillery spotter.

While at Yale, Chuck met future wife Nancy Moser of Mount Holyoke College on a blind date. The courtship flourished, and they were married on December 26, 1953 in Scarsdale, New York. Upon completion of his military service, Chuck and Nancy settled in his hometown of Edina where he began his career in financial services. After stints in insurance, banking, and finance, he concluded his working career as a financial advisor to the doctors and professional staff of a large medical center near Minneapolis.

Throughout his life, Chuck relished his roles as husband, father, churchman, provider, and friend. He was an excellent role model to all he encountered, especially his children. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and squash, skiing out West, following his favorite sports teams, and tinkering with his personal finances. First with the family, and later with Nancy, he loved traveling around North America (usually in the form of epic road trips) and around the world. Once grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived, he liked nothing better than visiting, or being visited by, them.

Churck is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Nancy Converse and his sister Ann Marx. He is survived by children Steve Converse (Judy) of Rotterdam, New York, Cathy Converse of Kirkwood, Missouri and Paul Dol (Thida) of Bloomington, Minnesota; grandchildren Maggie, Lizzie, Christie, Caroline, Sarah, Ayden, Nicky, Peter, Eric, Amie, and Zoe; and 9 great grandchildren.
