Obituary

Charles (Chuck) Eugene Lynn Jr. passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 82. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Chuck was married to his wife, Cheryl, for 56 years. Together they built a life centered on family, commitment, and love. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his four children: John (Jennifer), Mark (Dawn), Paul, and Amy Otis; and his nine cherished grandchildren: Jack, James, Joe, Matthew, Brooke, Jacob, Luke, Ender, and Fabiola. Preceded in death by his parents Charles Sr. and Lois, brother Tom, sister Linda, and infant child.

Chuck was born on June 28, 1943, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He graduated from Spirit Lake Community High School and first attended Loras College before attending Iowa State University. He proudly served four years in the United States Army, spending much of his time stationed in Japan. He often spoke fondly of his childhood in Spirit Lake, calling it the ultimate natural playground. Together with his best friend (and brother) Tom, he enjoyed the outdoors: golfing, caddying, boating, classic cars, and spending time with friends. One of his great joys in life was watching Hafer boats being built and then taking them out on the lakes of his hometown.

Chuck and Cheryl began raising their family in Des Moines, Iowa, before moving to St. Louis, Missouri, where they spent the remainder of their lives and raised their four children. Chuck worked for AT&T for 30 years, providing faithfully for his family.

After retiring, Chuck and Cheryl purchased a second home in The Villages, Florida. Chuck loved his time there—playing golf, driving his golf cart around town, enjoying meals at local restaurants, and relaxing by the pools. He especially loved to bask in the sunlight in the lanai of his home everyday drinking coffee with his best friend Mia, their dog. One of his proudest golf moments was achieving a hole-in-one and receiving a commemorative plaque!

His children describe him as a wonderful father—loving, funny, hardworking, and selfless in his devotion to his family.
