Charles "Charlie"
Frank Enzmann
Jul 23, 1930 — Apr 9, 2026
St. Louis
Charles "Charlie" Frank Enzmann, age 95, passed away in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 9, 2026. Born in St. Louis on July 23, 1930, to Franz and Lina Enzmann, Charlie was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He was an original "city kid," spending his youth running through the streets of a WWII era Lafayette Square.
A proud veteran, Charlie served as a member of the Military Police in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he attended Washington University and embarked on a dedicated 60-year career as an insurance adjuster. On May 25, 1951, he married the love of his life, Carley Barker Enzmann. Their marriage was a masterclass in devotion; Charlie was always by her side, whether helping her back a quilt or carefully setting out their cherished holiday villages.
Known as the happiest person many ever knew, Charlie had a rare gift for turning strangers into friends. He delighted in the simple things: tending his garden tomatoes, attending his annual birthday fish fries, and enjoying second helpings of German chocolate cake. His home was filled with the sound of a cuckoo clock and the smell of the charcoal grill. He was a man of distinct charms, known for labeling his favorite things with smiley face stickers and telling his grandchildren, "You can go anywhere in the world on YouTube."
To his family, he was a teacher of life's essential skills-from parallel parking to treading water-and a source of endless safety and warmth. He loved walking his dogs, collecting lost golf balls, and playing his ukulele to the delight of his great-grandchildren. Whether he was reading books in his recliner or greeting family with his signature, "I love you, Darlin'," Charlie made everyone feel special.
He is survived by his children, Randall Enzmann and Daigh Watson; his four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of relatives and friends who will forever miss his smile. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carley.
