Christy C.
Starr
Jul 19, 1961 — Aug 28, 2026
Chesterfield
Christy C. Starr passed away peacefully the morning of 28 August 2026 surrounded by her husband Anthony R. Starr and both children Leslie M. Graeser (née Scholl) and Damian M. Starr. Preceded in death by her parents Jesse M. and Glenna L. Bridges (née Wallace) and older brother Curtis R. Bridges. Survived by younger brother Michael L. Bridges, sister-in-law Marian (Curtis), and four beautiful grandchildren Madelyn Victoria Graeser, Olivia Starr Graeser, Nathan Robert Starr and Emma Jane Starr.
Born and raised in Rolla MO, marriage and work brought her to the St Louis area where she lived the remainder of her life.
Christy's life was filled with many passions—knitting, cooking, gardening, and countless other pursuits fueled by her abundant creativity. Early in her adult life, she and her parents made a variety of crafts together and traveled to craft shows throughout Missouri and Arkansas to share and sell their creations.
Later in life, her creative spirit found perhaps its fullest expression when she owned and operated her own quilt shop, the Quilted Cottage. There, she created beautiful quilts, felted figurines, candle mats, and a myriad of other works of fabric art. Along the way, she found fulfillment in many other endeavors, including running a catering operation at St. Jude's Hall in Spanish Lake and creating floral arrangements for Michaels craft store.
Christy was never one to let her talents sit idle. She also took on side projects such as cake decorating and creating unique, custom cookies. It is safe to say that, at some point, nearly all of her friends and family received something made by her hands—a tangible expression of the love and creativity she so freely shared.
Perhaps most special of all were the many hours she spent sharing those talents with her four grandchildren. They baked together, knitted together, crafted together, and made memories with Grandma that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Her greatest creations may well have been not the quilts or crafts she left behind, but the love, memories, and traditions she passed on to those she loved.
Christy also loved to travel. From San Diego to Boston, and from San Francisco to Key West, we saw much of this beautiful country of ours. She especially connected with the Texas Hill Country, but the beach was always the real draw. We enjoyed visits to Hawaii and many of the Caribbean islands. And, of course, our trips to Europe were especially memorable, as we toured Italy, France, Germany—and yes, even Luxembourg!
Though she left us far too soon, Christy lived a full and productive life, rich in creativity, adventure, family, and love. She will be remembered with great fondness by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
