Cynthia "Cindy" Lee Hartupee (nee Higgins), passed away, Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Beloved mother of Jennie (Nathan) Johannes.  Loving Mimi of Macie Johannes, Christian Hartupee, Julia Hartupee and many more.  Dearest sister of Paula (Dan) Mercille, Kelly (Dan) Carmody, Kimmy (Kevin) Conley, Brenda Hayes, JoAnne (Ron) Krepps and Marty Novak.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Norma Jean and Wayne Higgins and her siblings, Russel, Michael, Harold, Scedell, Dianne and Roxie.  Dearest aunt, cousin and friend of many.

Cindy was a vibrant soul who found joy in life's simple pleasures - playing dice and card games, getting lost in mystery novels, and watching crime shows like Forensic Files. She was also a devoted fan of Chicago Fire.

More than anything, Cindy loved her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she was filled with excitement as she anxiously awaited the arrival of her great-grandbaby. Even during her courageous two-year battle with breast cancer, she remained friendly, forgiving, and personable - the kind of person who never met a stranger wherever she went.

Her family will forever cherish the warmth of her voice telling them, "You are my sunshine." She believed deeply in keeping peace within the family and always encouraged her loved ones to avoid arguing and hold one another close. Cindy's kindness, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
