David Austin Smith

David Austin Smith, 61, of Ballwin, Missouri, passed away on September 24, 2026.

Born on September 18, 1965, in Hayti, Missouri, David was the beloved son of Martha Ann Smith (Lineberry) and the late Jerry Austin Smith.

David is survived by his loving wife, Tiffany Smith (Palovick); his mother, Martha Ann Smith; his brother, Mark Andrew Smith; and his nephew, Connor Lewis Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Austin Smith.

David lived a life filled with curiosity, humor, and a genuine appreciation for the people and experiences that surrounded him. He had a gift for storytelling and could turn nearly any memory into an entertaining tale. Family and friends will remember stories of his days working in the watermelon fields of southern Missouri, the time his grandmother greeted his unannounced visit with a shotgun in hand, his years as a District Manager for Kay Bee Toys, and the famous story of Fergie sweating on him during a sales meeting. Whether the story was hilarious, heartfelt, or somewhere in between, David loved sharing the memories that shaped his life.

One of David's greatest loves was the University of Missouri. Columbia and Mizzou always held a special place in his heart. He treasured his college experience and never tired of reminiscing about those years. Visits to Columbia often included long walks around campus while sharing stories from his time as a student, reliving favorite memories, and celebrating the place that meant so much to him. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger. MIZZOU RAH!

David was also a passionate lover of music and movies, embracing virtually every genre and always eager to share a recommendation or discuss a favorite artist, album, or film. He enjoyed playing Warhammer 40k, a hobby that combined strategy, creativity, and friendship and brought him countless hours of enjoyment.

Above all else, David cherished the life he shared with his wife, Tiffany. Together, they embraced all that St. Louis had to offer. Whether exploring museums, wandering through parks and trails, visiting the Missouri Botanical Garden, attending local events, or simply discovering something new, they approached life as an adventure to be shared. Their time together was filled with laughter, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for making memories.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home, 14960 Manchester Road, Ballwin, Missouri.

Though he will be deeply missed, David's legacy lives on in the stories he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely to family and friends.

"A life well lived leaves behind stories worth telling. David gave us a lifetime of them."

In lieu of flowers, Tiffany wishes to honor David's love of the Missouri Botanical Garden through the placement of a memorial stone in his memory. Memorial contributions may be sent to Adam & Kim Schuman, 1060 Remington Drive, Imperial, MO 63052, or via Venmo: @Kimberly-Schuman-1.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their love, support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time.
