Donald F.
Barr
Jan 29, 1931 — Aug 22, 2025
Ballwin
Barr, Donald F., passed away, Friday, August 22, 2025.
Beloved husband of Barbara Ann Barr (née Biener); devoted father of Kathy (Terry) Wakefield, Michelle (Tom) Hennessey and Bryan (Cheryl) Barr; dear grandfather of Erin Hennessey, Andrew (Kim) Barr and Eric (fiancée Ali Oliveros) Barr; great-grandfather of Oliver Barr; loving son of the late Raymond and Lucille Barr (née Besancenez); dear uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Born January 29, 1931 in Chesterfield, Missouri, Don grew up working on his family's farm. He started his education in a two-room school house on Conway Road, in Chesterfield, and completed his studies at Chaminade College Prep. After graduation, he began his career in residential building with Burton Duenke Construction Co., for whom he worked 40 plus years. Don was a master carpenter and built the house where his family grew up.
A long-time member and officer of the Chesterfield Lions Club, Don served in many capacities and was especially known for manning the BBQ pits and Christmas tree lots for various fundraisers.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed quail, deer and turkey hunting but later in life his passion turned to hunting morel mushrooms and moles! He had a dry sense of humor but made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. We will never forget his comical raised eyebrows, funny facial expressions and fabulous bear hugs.
Don was the Number One Fan at all of the grandchildren's activities and sporting events. We will always remember him wearing his yellow bucket hat! He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
