Donald Gene
Krontz
Jan 24, 1932 — Sep 23, 2025
Virginia Beach
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Gene Krontz, who left us on September 23, 2025, at the age of 93. Don was a beloved husband to Mary Dale Rhodes Krontz, known for his devotion, driven by love and a strong sense of responsibility, with his family acting as the motivation behind his professional efforts.
Born on January 24, 1932, in Hammond, Indiana, Don lived a life full of love and adventure. Don married his high school sweetheart and enlisted in the Navy. Discovering he had a talent for numbers, Don joined IBM and was associated with the Data Systems Division. His career at IBM began in 1958 and continued until his retirement in 1994. Upon his retirement from IBM, Don's final job title was Director of Planning. Don had a profound impact on everyone he met, always bringing joy, offering support, and sharing wisdom. With a windowed office overlooking Busch Stadium, he was obviously a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed Rams football, fishing with the boys in Canada, collecting antique car models, working in his gardens, keeping up the fish tanks, and streaming sports while eating popcorn from his recliner.
He leaves behind Dan (Colette) Krontz, Debbie (Frank) Arbeiter, and Amy (Kevin) Campbell; grandchildren Elyse (Pete) Murphy, Katie (Joe) Lelko, Jason Krontz, Nicole (TJ) Davis, Scott (Susan) Arbeiter, Brian Arbeiter, Brittany Krontz and Allison Campbell; great-grandchildren Emma Arbeiter, Clara Arbeiter, Lily Arbeiter, Nolan Murphy, Olivia Murphy, Weston Davis, and Easton Davis who will forever cherish his memory. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Krontz, his brother, Max Krontz, and his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Ladd.
A memorial service will be held at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, located at 12928 Ladue Road, St. Louis, MO 63141 on Thursday, October 16. Viewing will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M., with the Service beginning at 10:30 A.M., where friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Loaves & Fishes for St. Louis, 2750 McKelvey Rd., Maryland Heights, MO 63043, as a preferred option. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Don will be deeply missed but never forgotten, living on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
