Dorothy J.
"Dot" Leasck (Nee Schuchmann)
Jul 15, 1939 — Sep 7, 2025
Ballwin
Leasck, Dorothy J. "Dot" (nee Schuchmann), passed away, Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born in Ferguson, daughter of Benjamin and Nancy (nee Price) Schuchmann.
She is the beloved wife for 65 years of Andrew Edward "Ed" Leasck; dear mother of Julie Harrison, Tony (Jenna) Leasck, Nancy (Ron Raterman) Taylor, Kim (Joe) LaVenture, and Steve (Julia) Leasck; proud grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 3; loving sister of Carol (late Maynard) Banta, the late Nancy (Charlie) O'Brien, and the late Louise Schuchmann.
Most people remember Dot's career as a longtime legal secretary, where her knowledge and dedication to her work gained her a great deal of respect. She also worked for a book publishing company, a watchmaker, and as a high school secretary. She was a historian, a thinker, a dreamer, and a keeper of memories. Most of all, she dedicated her life to giving. She was always present and always giving presents. She gave her time as a Girl Scout leader, PTO President and as a classroom mother. She gave money to those who needed it. Dot was a pseudo-Santa; it was in her nature to give. She embroidered a minimum of 80 baby blankets, some for babies she had never met. She epitomized the meaning of "better to give than to receive," yielding so much joy from her personally-selected gifts. So many of us have benefitted from the graciousness of her gifts, always accompanied by a personal note or card, and stamped with the date. The gift of her love is the one we will cherish most of all in her absence – unmarked by a particular date, but by its enduring presence.
