Obituary

Nash, Douglas M., passed away, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the age of 83.

Beloved husband of 61 years of Sandra Nash; loving father of Scott (Joel Deguzman) Nash, Rochelle (Chris) Carey and the late Eric Nash; grandfather of Ethan, Lilly and Grayson Carey; brother of Bill (the late Dian) Nash and the late Dwight Nash; brother-in-law of Louvica Nash; loving brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Doug Nash, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and passionate community member, passed away after a courageous 30-year battle with cancer.

Born in Dawson, MN, Doug and his family later moved to a 200-acre farm just outside of Montevideo, MN, where he spent his youth working the land and tending to cattle and hogs. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sandra Lange, in the 7th grade. They began dating three years later and were married in August 1964, beginning their life together in Clinton, IA.

Doug earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of North Dakota, where he was a proud member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. His professional career saw him move from DuPont to Morton Chemical, leading to a family journey that included living in Delaware-where they welcomed their first child, Scott, and enjoyed life on the beach at Rehoboth-and Chicago, where Eric and Rochelle were born. They settled in Cedarburg, WI, enjoying country living, fishing, and skating on a small pond, and making lifelong friends, before a final promotion brought the family to St. Louis, MO, where they resided.

A man of deep faith, Doug was an active member of the Methodist church throughout his life. He and Sandra dedicated their time to various volunteer efforts, including hosting foreign exchange students from Germany and Brazil. Doug's love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of camping, canoeing, and fishing. He was an actively supportive father, volunteering in his son's Boy Scouts troop and proudly selling cookies for his daughter's troop. Doug was as proud to stand by his son when he married his husband as he was when he stood by his daughter during her marriage. He was a beloved grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren, and a constant, cheering presence in the audience at their sports games and concerts.

Following retirement, Doug and Sandra channeled their entrepreneurial spirit into a small business called the Smashed Chefs, traveling regionally to different fairs and expos, where Doug delighted in meeting new people. A lifelong football enthusiast, he never gave up his passion for the sport and was a proud PSLA holder for the Rams. Doug and Sandra were also fortunate to travel extensively, exploring Europe, Mexico, and much of the United States.

Doug follows his son Eric and is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Sandra; his children, Scott, and Rochelle; and his three cherished grandchildren. His warmth, laughter, and enduring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
