Obituary

Edward Stanley Bronson, passed away, Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Beloved husband of the late Susan Bronson.  Loving father of Melissa (Robert) Walker and the late Margaret "Peggy" (Steve) Stewart.  Dear grandpa of Maggie and Matthew Stewart, Courtney (Randy) Evans, and Mark (Darby) Rhoads.  Dearest great grandpa of Sophia and Josephine Evans and Harper and Hudson Rhoads.  Dear brother of the late Stanley Bronson.  Dear uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many.

Ed was born January 22 1943 in the city of St Louis. He and his little brother Stan loved baseball, cars, boy scouts and playing outdoors.  As a small child he attended Sacred Heart grade school in Baden, then moved on to Laboure High School where he loved Chemistry and literature. Shakespeare and Poe were his favorites.

He was working for Missouri Pacific Railroad (now Union Pacific) when he met Susan Birkenmaier and fell in love.  They married and had 2 daughters.  Ed and Sue were married 30 years when he lost her unexpectedly.  He was always involved in his daughters' lives, coaching softball, going to Father-Daughter Girl Scout Camp, taking his kids fishing and to Six Flags in the summer.  Ed was very involved in his church, St. John the Baptist, working parish picnics, becoming a Lector and joining the choir with Sue.  He helped count church donations on Sundays after services. Ed was a devoted member of his local gun club and even became a Certified Instructor so he could teach gun safety classes to kids that came to the club to learn how to shoot safely.

He loved Sudoku and crossword puzzles. He loved gardening, barbequing and a cold beer with friends. Music was always playing in the house.  Ed loved nearly every kind, from Classical to Do-Wop and the radio was always playing. Sunday church was a must and prayers before meals  were never missed. Ed loved his friends and family.  He prayed for them every day.

As Ed grew older he moved into Union Pointe Assisted Living where he made many friends and soon called his place "home".  He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and lost the ability to recall many of these sweet memories.

He always said "If you miss the sunrise you've missed the best part of the day".  He also said "Family and Friends are the best things in life".
