Erna Marie
Reinsel
Dec 25, 1930 — Jan 9, 2026
Des Peres
Reinsel, Erna Marie, Victorious in Christ, 95 of Des Peres, Missouri, died peacefully at home on January 9, 2026.
Beloved wife of the late John T. Reinsel, Jr. ; devoted mother of children Jean (Geoff) Brauer, John D. Reinsel, Tom Reinsel and Frank (Denise) Reinsel; cherished grandmother of Shari (Tyler) Oesterreich, Sarah (Avery) Hjulberg and Matthew Reinsel. Dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Erna was born on Christmas day 1930 and was baptized into Christ and made God's own child at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne, Missouri. Her family rejoices that she is now alive with Jesus forever.
A 1951 graduate of the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, Erna worked as a registered nurse at Lexington Memorial Hospital in Missouri where she met her future husband, John T. Reinsel, Jr. They married in 1955, raised four children in Kansas City, later moved to Des Peres, Missouri and actively participated as members of St. Paul's Lutheran church and school where Erna served as a school nurse.
Erna will be remembered for her most kind, patient and loving nature as well as for her devoted relationship with her grandchildren, her Norborne relatives, and especially with her mother Hedwig (Beckemeier) Moentmann, father Edwin A. Moentmann and brother Earl K. Moentmann. She was a wonderful cook, loved to garden, had a very soft spot for her beloved pets and loved to leave raisins on her windowsill for the birds. She was an avid reader of newspapers, especially those with news of her hometown Norborne community. Always looking for ways she could help, Erna paid loving attention to what was going on in the lives of her family and friends.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
