George "Jim"
Myrick
Nov 27, 1933 — Mar 30, 2026
Chesterfield
Myrick, George "Jim", passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 92.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (nee Schott); daughters Jennifer Myrick and Elizabeth (Alan) Stevenson; grandsons Connor Weihert and Ansel Stevenson, of whom he was immeasurably proud.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George H. Myrick and Suzanne F. (nee Wise) Myrick
Born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota, he inherited his father's engineering mind and never lost it. He was a natural tinkerer who approached a project with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything else - always curious, always willing to figure it out. A good problem to solve was never a burden; it was an opportunity.
To a vast array of friends and family everywhere, he was known by many names, depending on when and how you knew him: Dear, Dad, Grandpa, Gramps, Uncle, Cousin, George, Jim, Jimmy, the Kid, Marv, Air Force, Maverick, or Pliney, just to name a few. No matter who he was to you, he had the rare ability to leave you feeling cared for and happy.
Jim lived a full and meaningful life. Whether he was flying for the US Air Force under the call sign Maverick, long before it became a Hollywood name, with the Missouri Air National Guard, commercially with Ozark, or building some of the first cable companies to serve rural areas of Missouri, he pushed the limits of what he could do.
While his work was full of adventure, simply spending time with family and friends was where he was most content. From long lunches at his favorite restaurants to playing cards in his office to fishing excursions in the Florida Keys, the joy he felt inside was always visible in his characteristic bright smile.
As a serviceman, an entrepreneur, a Northwestern Wildcat, a husband, a father, and a friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Services: A memorial service is being arranged by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Backstoppers, Inc. As a service of SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
