Obituary

Glenda Keller Rehwinkel, 88, of Sunset Hills, Missouri, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., following complications from hip surgery. She was surrounded by her loving family in the intensive care unit at Missouri Baptist Hospital.

Glenda is the daughter of the late Rev George and Clara Keller and was born June 22, 1938, in Hickoria, Arkansas. At the age of 17, she moved to St. Louis, where she met Richard J. Rehwinkel while they were both employed by The Pepsi Bottling Company. The two were married for 52 years and built a life centered on faith, family, and service. From 1975 until 2015, Glenda called Cedar Hill, Missouri, home.  Richard preceded her in death on January 26, 2011.

Those who knew Glenda often described her as spunky, spirited, and full of life. She worked for the Northwest School District for 28 years, a career she cherished and enjoyed immensely. She said that she loved the students and learned a lot from them.  Sometimes learning a somewhat new language.  She began her service in the high school cafeteria before moving to the Counselors Office, where she served as secretary. She later supported several school principals as an administrative secretary until her retirement in 2003.

Glenda had many interests.  She cherished spending time with her children and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she would protect with her life.  She loved her Lord Jesus, her church, and her church family as well as loved taking missionary trips.  She had a real heart for missions.  She worked 6 years with the Oasis program at Cedar Springs Elementary as a mentor working with children on language and reading.  Glenda loved to travel, her favorite place was Yosemite National Park in California.

Glenda is survived by her son, Mark A. Rehwinkel (Kathy) of Ash Grove, Missouri; her daughter, Dr. Kelley P. Shaffer of College Station, Texas; her son, Kurt R. Rehwinkel of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and her daughter, Dana E. Smith (Scott) of Cedar Hill, Missouri. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan J. Shaffer, Samantha N. Shaffer, Taylor R. Rosa (Korde), Erin M. Smith, and Keller J. Smith; her great-grandchildren, Levi J. Rosa and Elaine "Lainey" N. Rosa; her sisters, Linda Wisner of Parkersburg, Illinois, Anna Grissom of McDougal, Arkansas, and Margaret Rohn (Richard) of Fort Myers, Florida; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In accordance with her wishes, Glenda was cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill, Missouri, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with lunch and a time of fellowship immediately following the service.
