Hicks Jr.
Jul 2, 1945 — Sep 6, 2026
O'Fallon
Harry "Butch" Hicks Jr. entered Heaven on September 6, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born in St. Louis, Harry lived a full life defined by hard work, love for family, lasting friendships, and the many experiences he gathered along the way.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia "Pat" Bond Hicks; his children Joshua Hicks, Jessica (Darrick) Griggs, Blake Hicks, and Brittney Hicks; his stepchildren Christian Halbach, Carrie Milton and Nicole McCrary; and his grandchildren, Riley, Reese, Henley, Parker, Sydney, Devin, Kayla, Kyle, and Colin. He is also survived by his sister, Helene Davis, as well his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Hicks Sr. and Juanita Hicks, and his stepson, Nathan Halbach.
Harry was proud of his service in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country from 1962 to 1966.
Many will also remember Harry from his race car days, when he became well known for his "King Cuda." Racing was an exciting chapter of his life and one that left behind countless memories and stories.
He later owned Superior Security Iron, an ornamental iron company he operated for more than 30 years, he developed innovative creations for which he was awarded 3 U.S. patents.
Harry found happiness in the simple things. He loved his cats, hummingbirds, and feeding the deer. He and Pat also shared a love of travel, spending years exploring the country together and creating beautiful memories.
Harry's circle of friends was bound by decades of shared history, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Those friendships meant a great deal to him and remained an important part of his life.
To know Harry was to love him, and anyone who knew Harry knew the depth of the love he had for his wife, Pat. Their life together was filled with companionship, adventure, and a devotion that was evident to everyone around them.
Harry will be deeply missed. His stories, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the lives of those he leaves behind.
