Obituary

Hugh "Frank" Coker (November 9, 1947-January 9, 2026), a decorated Vietnam veteran, devoted Oklahoma football fan, and an extraordinarily loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away while surrounded by family on January 9, 2026. Frank began his 78 years of life and service to others on November 9, 1947, in Muldrow, Oklahoma. He was the son of Hugh Wesley and Edna Jane (Gibson) Coker and graduated "at the top of his class" from Muldrow High School in 1966 as the class clown.

Following his graduation, U.S. Army Spc. Frank Coker served honorably in the United States Army. As was noted in the St. Louis Post Dispatch when he was recognized for his heroism in 2018, Frank shared the homegrown tomatoes his family shipped to him in Vietnam, played Johnny Cash on a 50-cent guitar, and proudly flew the Sooner state flag over his hooch during his years of active service. He proudly and bravely protected his country in Vietnam and earned both the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Following his years in the military, Frank worked for over twenty-five years with the Union Pacific Railroad in the Operations Support Systems office. His love of anything affiliated with trains or the railroad was seen throughout his life.

In 1999, Frank began the greatest chapter of his time on earth when he met the love of his life, the "lovely" Susan Jo (Kidd) Jenkins. Following their marriage in Sherman, Texas, on April 21, 2000, Frank and Susan were inseparable and traveled across the country on memorable trips to places like Washington, D.C., Branson, Missouri, Estes Park, Colorado, San Diego, California, and Sanibel Island, Florida. Frank's other favorite activities included watching his beloved sports teams like the before-mentioned Oklahoma Sooners and the St. Louis Cardinals, spending countless hours spoiling his beloved grandchildren Joe, Catie, Addison, Teddy, and Ashland, and golfing as much as possible with his sons and friends.

He is survived by his wife Susan, favorite puppy Clyde, children David (Wanni) Coker, Dorothy Coker, Bill (Sarah) Jenkins, Betsy (Robbie) Evans, and Marty (Amy) Jenkins, his previously mentioned grandchildren, his sisters Virginia McNulty, Maudie (Jimmy) Martin, and Peggy Louviere, previous son-in-law Charles McKenzie, several nieces and nephews, and countless grand-dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Tess, brothers-in-law Jess and David, and previous puppy, Pretty Boy.

The family encourages everyone to recall Frank with a smile on their face, hearing him say any number of his favorite one-liners including…"If I was any better, I'd be twins" or "is a hog's ass pork?" So, "Adios, Amigo…we love you."
