James "Jim"
F. Tilden Iii
Mar 23, 1959 — Aug 19, 2026
Ellisville
James F. "Jim" Tilden III, 67, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2026, following a short but well fought battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Santa Ana, California. At a young age, his family moved to Kansas, where he spent his childhood and high school years. After graduating from high school, Jim studied marketing at the University of Kansas. In 1979, he moved to St. Louis with his family and later graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In 1986, he met and married his beloved wife, Jean.
Jim found great joy in golf and spent many days on the local courses, eventually becoming an Assistant Golf Pro. He also loved walking, hiking, and vacationing in the Rocky Mountains in August, where he could escape the St. Louis summer heat and enjoy the mountains.
Above all, Jim treasured time with his family. Some of his favorite moments were spent with Jean and his daughters, cooking family dinners and sitting together on the back patio at 5 p.m. sharp each evening. Jim was an avid grill master who loved the challenge of trying new recipes and grilling new foods. He was the expert, and everyone looked forward to his cooking, especially during the holidays.
Jim's final weeks were spent at home, surrounded by the family he loved. He will be remembered most for his love of family, his quick wit, his keen mind, penchant for numbers. Many memories he created with those closest to him will be deeply loved and forever missed.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Joan Tilden; his father, James F. Tilden Jr.; and his sister, Kim (Tilden) Markham.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Tilden; his two daughters, Paige and Natalie Tilden of Ellisville; his brother, Tom Tilden and his wife, Kate; his aunt, Kathy Howell and her husband, Bruce, of Greenwood Village, Colorado; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
