Keel, Jr. James Paul "Papa J", passed away, Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

He was the devoted father of Juanita (Therman Parker) Keel and James (Mara Walling) Keel, III; cherished grandfather of Misty Black, Therman Parker, Jr., James Keel IV, and Jax Keel; loving great-grandfather of Hazel Chase; precious fiancé of Julie Kebert; and a dear brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

James was known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and deep love for his family and friends. A talented karaoke host (KJ) and music enthusiast, he brought joy and laughter to countless gatherings through his love of music and singing. Professionally, he was a skilled Sous Chef who took great pride in preparing meals and sharing them with those he loved. A longtime employee and cherished member of The Fireplace Bar family, James spent many years building lasting friendships and creating memories with coworkers, patrons, and friends. His presence, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty made a lasting impact on all who knew him. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on automobiles, spending time with loved ones, and embracing his fondness for Batman, a character that reflected his playful spirit and unique personality. James will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, laughter, and the joy he brought to the lives of others. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
