Obituary

Weston, James G., passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 87.

Jim will always be remembered as a man who loved the outdoors. He was happiest when canoeing, camping and fishing on Missouri's picturesque rivers. After retiring from Weston Research Associates and moving to South Carolina, he loved kayaking the tidewaters there, spotting waterfowl, manatees and alligators. Bird watching was a favored pastime. In addition to the usual suspects, he cultivated a large community of goldfinches in Missouri and bluebirds in South Carolina. During retirement, he and his wife of so many years, Jan, toured the U.S. for many years by RV, enjoying our amazing country. He maintained a certain athleticism throughout his lifetime, beginning with wrestling and javelin throwing in his younger years, then on to playing volleyball with the younger set when he was (let's say not as young) and winning medals at multiple senior Olympics.

His easy smile will be missed by family, friends, and many bridge players met through the years. He survived by his wife of 65 years, Janis Wirtel Weston, his two daughters, Meghan (Jarrett) Cooper and Minda (Dan) Hesskamp, and four grandchildren Celia and Ian Cooper and Jack and Chloe Hesskamp. He is the brother of the late Judy Weston Paulsmeyer.
