Jan Roy
Stobie
Apr 5, 1959 — Jun 19, 2026
Wildwood
A light that burned with brilliance and warmth went out on Friday, June 19, when Jan Roy Stobie left this world after a 10-month battle with liver bile duct cancer.
Jan, the daughter of Jack (deceased) and Nancy Roy, was born April 5, 1959, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her older sister, Kim, welcomed her with open arms and the two of them shared a lifelong connection that was grounded in unconditional love, mutual understanding, and shared history.
Jan grew up in Jefferson City, MO, where she graduated from Jefferson City Senior High School in 1977. She received a bachelor's degree in animal science from Southwest Mo. State University (MSU) in 1981.
Jan shared much of her life with her partner, Rich Walker, who demonstrated a love "for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health" until death parted them.
The delights and loves of her life were her children KC, Jacob and Nathan. She loved them with a ferocity and unrelenting intensity that was a force to behold. Her heart expanded with love for Mia Vabolis, Emily Kaspar Stobie, Jason and Katie Walker, Abbi Schuh and Nick Walker.
Unquestionably, Jan's favorite role was that of "Gigi "to Carson and Ava Stobie, Jillian Walker, Harper Schuh and Ellis Walker. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them and catering to their every desire and whim.
Jan thought of brother-in-law Bob Cranston as a true brother. Her nephews, Drew Cranston and Clark Cranston always considered Aunt Jan to be one of their greatest champions.
She has numerous friends from all walks of her life who now have aching hearts and cherished memories. Jan was a force within the St Louis tennis community. She leaves friends, teammates and colleagues with happy remembrances of their times together.
Jan loved the Lord and openly shared her faith and struggles. The many challenges she faced gave her a special affinity for those who were hurting and in need of a listening ear, supportive advice or a hug. She was known for her tender heart and would have adopted every stray animal in need of a home, if she could have.
For family and friends who loved and knew this remarkable woman, life will be a bit duller without her infectious laugh, wit and glitzy style. She was a warrior who valiantly fought life's battles and is now able to claim the total victory she was promised.
Services: A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jan's memory may be made to the charity or church of your choice. As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, please share memories of Jan and condolences with the family in the online guestbook at Schrader.com.
