Janet Marie
Boelhauf (Nee Lawless)
Dec 10, 1935 — May 16, 2026
Chesterfield
Janet Marie Boelhauf (nee Lawless) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Janet was the beloved wife of the late Donald T. Boelhauf; loving mother of Donna (Rick) Brueggemann and the late Gerald (Terri) Boelhauf; cherished grandmother of Katharine (Bernardo) Moreno, Hunter (Haydi) Boelhauf, Blake (Kaila) Brueggemann, Connor Brueggemann, and Clayton Brueggemann; and proud great-grandmother of Oliver and Bailey. She was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Lawless. She was the dear sister of the late Mary Lawless, and a treasured sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Janet spent much of her childhood surrounded by cousins with whom she maintained lifelong relationships. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy Catholic School.
Janet met the love of her life, Don, while visiting her future in-laws for a haircut shortly after his return from service in the Korean War. It was love at first sight, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and friendship.
She and Don built a cherished summer home at the Lake of the Ozarks, where many treasured memories were made. Janet worked for many years as an administrative assistant and later became co-owner, alongside her husband, of a Mobil gas station and Don's Liquor Store. A gifted organizer and "numbers person," she managed both business and finances with skill and dedication.
Deeply devoted to her faith, Janet was most active in Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She enjoyed boating, traveling, and spending winters in Arizona. She especially loved gathering with lifelong friends, hosting parties, and creating warm, welcoming spaces for those she loved.
An accomplished pianist with a fondness for The Sound of Music and The Entertainer, Janet also had a remarkable artistic eye, particularly for decorating. Known for her fun-loving spirit, she embraced life fully - including her signature American Honey shot-ski tradition discovered at a favorite lake bar.
Above all, Janet valued her faith, friendships, and family. She took great joy in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, strong work ethic, and vibrant personality.
Janet's memory will be cherished always by all who knew and loved her.
