Jean E.
Hoffmann (Née Tuthill)
Jun 27, 1928 — Jan 23, 2026
Wildwood
Jean E. Hoffmann (née Tuthill), of Wildwood, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 97, due to natural causes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl, in 2016, after more than 66 years of marriage. Above all else in life, Jean loved her husband and her family.
In 1961, Jean and Earl purchased a 200-acre farm where they raised their four young sons. The old farmhouse and barn, both dating back to the 1800s, became the heart of what they lovingly named Mint Springs Farm. Together, they built a life grounded in hard work, family, and shared purpose. The farm was home to nearly every kind of animal imaginable, including horses, beef cattle, dairy cows, buffalo, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, guineas, pheasants, quail, woodcock, as well as cats and dogs.
Jean worked alongside her family in the family business, Surdex Corporation, which provided aerial surveying and mapping services across the United States. Ever entrepreneurial and creative, Jean also fulfilled a longtime passion by opening a small antique shop in one of the sheds near the barn. She named it "The Farmer's Wife," and it became a place that reflected her keen eye, charm, and love for history.
Jean was intelligent, spirited and known for her sharp wit and quick humor. She was remarkably active in her earlier years, regularly attending exercise classes and enjoying a wide range of physical activities. She loved riding bicycles and horses, and she played golf and tennis with enthusiasm and determination.
Jean had an especially tender place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They affectionately called her "Jeana," "GiGi," or "Geech," and she delighted in helping raise them, entertaining them, and playfully engaging in their lives.
Nearly ten years passed after Earl's death, and Jean missed him deeply every day. When they married in 1949, they inscribed the words "Forever and Ever" inside their wedding rings. Now, at last, they are reunited for eternity-together and in love, forever and ever.
Jean is survived by her four sons: Earl Hoffmann Jr. (Nancy), Randall Hoffmann (Sally), Ronald Hoffmann (Renee Price), and Russell Hoffmann (Lisa); her eight grandchildren: Adam (Lisa), Erin Whitman (Dave), Anne Hermes (Scott), Joseph (Jasmina), Michael (Laura), Rachael Donaldson (Ben), Brian (Julie Merritt), and Torre (James Hatfield); and her nine great-grandchildren: Hannah, Madison, Christian, Samantha, Jack, Chandler, Tristan, Cameron, and Adelyn.
She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Bob Klueter and Ralph Hoffman, and her sister-in-law Violet Klueter. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Layman and Flossie Tuthill; her parents-in-law, Oscar and Mathilda Hoffman; her sisters Anne Wiethop and Linda Ruf; her sister-in-law Brenda Hoffman; and her brothers-in-law Carroll Wiethop and Ed Ruf.
Jean is survived by her nieces and nephews Patty Renner, David Ruf, Kathy Reinhold, Kandy Price, Keith Klueter, Krystal Barton, Kevin Klueter, Kara Klueter, Kyle Klueter, Julie Gadis, Elizabeth Who, Jeff Hoffman, and Stacey Hoffman. She was preceded in death by nieces and nephews Danny Wiethop, David Wiethop, Michael Ruf, Jeannie Whitehead, and Debbie Ruf.
