Jerome Charles
Patterson
Dec 6, 1937 — Apr 22, 2026
St. Louis
Jerome Charles Patterson was born on December 6, 1937. He died on April 22, 2026 at the age of 88. He was born in St. Louis to John C. and Reta A. Patterson (Hixson) and lived in Dogtown during his childhood. He attended St. James the Greater School and then McBride High School where he graduated in 1956. He studied Chemistry at Washington University, graduating in 1966 after working and going to night school. In 1990 he received his MBA from Maryville University.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Patterson Beach. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Rogers, his grandsons: Andrew (Julia) Rogers, David Patterson Rogers, Matthew Rogers (fiancée Emma Roush), his great-grandchildren: Roman Rogers and Josephine Rogers, his sister, Deborah (Mark) Colombo, his nephew Nicholas Colombo (Sarah Miller), his niece Annie Colombo, his great nephews Oscar Colombo and Isaac Colombo, his cousin Sharon (Britt) Holt, and his dear friend for over 50 years, Virginia Blair (Fran) Spring. He was a caring neighbor and friend to many.
Jerry was a man of detail and planning. He began his career at St. Louis Testing Lab in 1957. He served in the Army Reserves from 1961 until 1967. After that he started his long career at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing where he was a principal specialist in facilities for over 30 years. For many years, he enjoyed Monday night bowling with "The Odd Balls," his team of co-workers. His intelligence showed in his dry sense of humor and his ability to solve complex problems. He was kind and honored his parents and his aunt as he took care of them and handled their estates. He hosted the entire family on Easter for wonderful brunches and celebrations. He was a stylish dresser with a collection of ties to match any occasion. At home, Jerry enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them from his kitchen window. After his retirement, he traveled the world with his friends Fran and Blair. He was curious and loved learning about new places. He kept detailed records of his adventures.
His family appreciates the care Jerry received from Fran and Blair Spring as they opened their home to him. He was also cared for by the wonderful staff at Parc Provence and BJC Hospice. We are thankful.
