Jimmy
Landry
Apr 27, 1945 — Jan 8, 2026
Wildwood
Jimmy Landry, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Jimmy grew up in a home filled with music, discipline, and pride-shaped by his father Milton's zydeco rhythm and his mother Hazel's leadership and grace. From an early age, Jimmy stood out for his confidence and charm; at just six years old, he was chosen as Prince of the May Day Parade, a moment that foreshadowed a life defined by presence, charisma, and joy.
At seventeen, Jimmy made the courageous and strategic decision to enlist in the U.S. Army, choosing to serve in Germany, where he found adventure, independence, and-most importantly-the love of his life, Cathy. They married abroad, honeymooned across Europe in a beat-up Volkswagen with a hole in the floor, and returned to the U.S. to build a life anchored in love, partnership, and optimism. In Detroit, while working full-time and raising a young family, Jimmy earned both his BA and MBA in just five years-an achievement that reflected his remarkable discipline and determination. He later built a thriving career as a sales leader at Avon, where he became known for his creativity, sense of fun, and ability to inspire teams through both humor and genuine care.
Jimmy lived with intentionality and a philosophy that shaped everyone around him. He believed that people are inherently good, that kindness is powerful, and that positivity is a choice. He taught his children through joyful action-sneaking Reese's under pillows, racing them in the street until they surpassed him, and celebrating their wins as proof of his own success as a father. He brought laughter and levity to every room, whether dressed as an astronaut to motivate his team or hosting Mardi Gras trivia competitions at home. After retiring, he continued living with purpose, serving on the Board of The Women's Safe House and helping provide safety, comfort, and dignity to families in crisis. His compassion was always active, never abstract.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife Cathy; their children Steve, Shay, and Lauren; eight grandchildren and one cherished great-granddaughter; and his brothers Reginald and Milton. He leaves behind not only his family but a long legacy of people whose lives he touched through his generosity, humor, wisdom, and belief in others.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Sunday, January 18, 2026. The memorial service begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Schrader Chapel, followed immediately by a full celebration of life in the FAMILY CENTER at SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory.
