Joan
Otis
Sep 21, 1930 — Mar 29, 2026
Ballwin
Joan Otis, 95, of Ballwin, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on March 29th, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on September 21st, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, to William Henry Kettler and Helen Marie Kettler (Sargent), Joan lived a life rooted in faith, family, and generosity. A devoted Catholic, her faith guided her daily life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion and strength she showed to everyone around her.
Joan dedicated her life to serving others while working for Schneithorst's Restaurant for many years until its closing and Rockwood School district where she was known for her strong work ethic and warm spirit.
Joan found happiness in life's simple pleasures - cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, savoring an extra hot cup of coffee, or enjoying a large, iced tea with extra lemons. Above all, she will be remembered for her generous heart. Joan had a special gift for making others feel loved, often surprising family and friends with thoughtful gifts whenever something reminded her of them. Giving brought her joy, and she made everyone in her life feel truly special.
Her greatest pride and deepest love were her family. She is survived by her sisters, Jean Burneau and Zoe Aubertin, her beloved son, Kevin Otis; and her cherished grandchildren, Megan (Otis) Krysl and Joshua Otis, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Services: A visitation will be held at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 627 Dennison Dr. Ballwin, MO 63021 on Wednesday, April 8th starting at 10 a.m. followed by mass and luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Carmelite Monastery
, 9150 Clayton Rd. St. Louis, MO 63124 in honor of Joan's enduring faith and loving spirit.
