Joann Schneider
(Née Bristow)
Jul 10, 1940 — Aug 25, 2026
Chesterfield
JoAnn (née Bristow) Schneider was invited to spend eternity in The Kingdom of God by her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was peacefully at home in the loving arms of her husband Robert. For the last few years, JoAnn had been challenged by complications from Parkinson's Disease.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Bristow and Virginia Lee Mueller, step-father Raymond Mueller, father and mother-in-law Jerry and RoseMary Schneider, her first husband Melvin Ehrlich, and her sister-in-law Joan Marie Schneider.
In addition to her husband, JoAnn is survived by her brother Joseph (Jane) Bristow, sister Karen (William) McCabe, daughter Michelle Holt, son Scott (Jill) Ehrlich, brother-in-law Richard Schneider, brothers-in-law Michael Ehrlich and Mark Ehrlich, stepson Aaron Schneider and stepdaughter Rebekah Schneider.
JoAnn is also survived by her grandchildren Anthony Griffith, Kyle Holt, Amanda Ehrlich, Allison Ehrlich, and Alexis Ehrlich, in addition by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who she all cherished.
Born in St. Louis, JoAnn spent her formative years in Webster Groves, attending Holy Redeemer gradeschool. After moving to Ferguson, she attended and graduated from Nerinx Hall High School. After getting married, she raised her family during the 60s and 70s at St. Casimir's Parish, then later moved to Chesterfield and became a parishioner of Ascension. Her experience as a working mom was mainly in retail. After a 33-year career with Schnucks Markets, she retired from customer service in 2001.
During JoAnn's lifetime, she had been involved with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and various church activities. Later on she was an active member of the Missouri World Organization of China Painters for decades. Over the years, ballroom dancing and swing dancing became her favorite pastime. A close second favorite…eating at La Bonne Bouchée (mostly dessert). She was a member of the St. Louis Ballroom Dancers and also the Goldstreamers Dance Clubs. In the early 80s, JoAnn participated in national competitions. For decades, she always looked forward to monthly dances. She also enjoyed attending musical productions at Stages in Kirkwood as a long-time season ticket-holder.
Known for her vivacious personality and smile, JoAnn would light up any room she walked into. Once you met her, you would never forget it. She was loved beyond measure by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.
JoAnn's unexpected diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease 10 years ago dramatically altered the course of her life. Even though her activities became increasingly limited, she fought like a soldier every day doing her exercises and therapies, always with commitment and gratitude.
2 1/2 years ago JoAnn and her husband Robert founded a project called Pipes for Parkinson's to raise awareness and donations for The American Parkinson's Disease Association. This project will continue locally AND nationally in JoAnn's memory.
Life was God's gift to JoAnn. How she lived her life was her gift to God and to all of us. JoAnn passed quietly and peacefully at home in the arms of her husband Robert.
JoAnn's family wants to express their sincere gratitude to all of her devoted friends and relatives who supported her with their love, their presence, or their prayers.
