John J.
Campbell
Jul 29, 1967 — May 11, 2026
Ballwin
John J. Campbell peacefully passed away on May 11, 2026 surrounded by his family and two dogs. He was a devoted father of Ian, Harrison, Dawson, and Quinn Campbell. He was the beloved son of the late William Campbell and Joan Henderson Campbell, and, finally, a loving brother of Patricia Campbell.
He was a true outdoorsman at heart-an accomplished camper and hunter who found his greatest joy in nature. Whether navigating deep woods or simply sitting quietly by a crackling campfire, he was always at home in the great outdoors.
For a number of years, he served as a Scoutmaster. He lived by the Scout Oath, teaching that the best classroom was under the stars. Under his leadership, his troops held countless camping trips, and he was instrumental in guiding a number of young Scouts and his contagious joy for nature will live on in the Scouts he mentored.
He developed an early love for animals but found his true calling among his mischievous goats. He was notorious for taking care of the "bottle babies" in his own home and could be often found sitting in the goat pen with his goats. He spent hours repairing fences, cleaning stalls, and ensuring every goat had a name and a distinct personality.
