Throughout his life, John served in the Army National Guard, was a member of the Westview no.103 Masonic Lodge and a member of the Grand Lodge of the Eastern Star. In addition to his lodge membership, he was a member of the Scottish Rite and Moolah Shriners. Family and friends will remember John for his generous spirit and willingness to help others, his love of riding tractors and the joy he found in jumping waves in the ocean whenever the opportunity arose. He took great pride in his electrical work and spent countless hours in his workshop, always building, fixing, and creating something with his hands.
