Obituary

Stein, Kurtis H., went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 17, 2026.

Beloved husband of Deborah Stein for 42 years; devoted father of Matthew (Sarah) Stein and Abby (Steven) Tung; cherished grandfather of Henry, Olivia, Norah, Amelia, and Iris; loving son of Harold Stein and the late Helen Somers; dear brother of Linda (David) Pleiness; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Since meeting on a school bus as teenagers, Kurtis and Deborah shared a lifetime of memories together. They built a legacy centered on devotion to family, faith, and the simple joys of life. Being a father and husband were his greatest privilege.

Affectionately called Pops, he was very involved in the lives of his grandchildren, finding delight in attending little league sports and dance recitals, playing board games (including Sorry and Yahtzee), and sharing pizza at local restaurants. They were a light in his life, and he spoke of all his grandchildren with pride and love.

Kurt was blessed with lifelong friends who remained dear to him, including many from his elementary and high school years. As a result of his warm demeanor and kindness, he was admired by many.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and watching college basketball. He made sure to inform others of his favorite teams' place in the standings.

As a young adult, he professed faith in Jesus Christ. Kurt was a member of New Community Church. "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
