Obituary

Virginia Madeline (Lin) Brinkmann age 70, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, following a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease.

Born on December 6, 1955 in St. Louis City, to Virginia M. Neel and Milton J. Springmeyer Jr., Lin grew up with two younger brothers, Steve and David. She attended Hazelwood High School then Southeast Missouri State University for a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and later built a rewarding career as a Paralegal and then a Legal Office Manager.

Lin was a conscientious, dutiful, and exemplary person. Growing up, she witnessed the St. Louis Arch being built, spent Summer nights at the Muny, attended the Beatles North American tour, and watched the Moon landing on TV. As a young adult, she had a profound love for singing in choirs, was involved in her local Girl Scout Troop and volunteered for Kit Bond's campaign, and other civic activities. Later in life, she demonstrated a strong work ethic, while solely raising two daughters. She worked hard to provide for them, encouraging travel, involvement in their communities, and the pursuit of passions through extra-curricular activities. Her love of music was like a glue that bound the family together.  A lifetime as a Cardinal's Baseball fan led her to many Spring Training Camps, season games and a World Series winner--most often with her Mom.  She also loved Blues Hockey--and attended many games through the years. Even when Alzheimer's quietly changed her rhythm of life in most recent years, her core fun spirit and great sense of humor remained. She taught her daughters to live with purpose, maintaining that strong sense of humor. She always greeted and welcomed the stranger, making others feel comfortable; she taught her kids the value of being a friend to everyone, and lending a helping hand where possible.

Her loving children, Jennifer Dick and Beth Patterson; her grandchildren, Caleb Dick, Casey Dick, Nora Patterson; and many dear relatives and friends survive her. Her parents and her brother, David Springmeyer, preceded her in death.

The family finds comfort in knowing her long battle is finally at peace, and her bright, beautiful soul is free once more.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life, which will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association or a local dementia care charity.
