Lori Lynn (Shelton) Miller, 66, of Wildwood, Missouri passed away peacefully at Evelyn’s House on October 20, 2026, following her eight-month struggle with kidney cancer. Though her battle with kidney cancer was a heavy burden, she carried herself through her final months with the exact same grace, resilience, and radiant positivity that defined her entire life. She never stopped thinking of others first, ensuring that her final days were filled with the same laughter and warmth she always shared with others.
Born January 9, 1960, Lori was the daughter of the late Andrew Z. Shelton and the late Ressa N. Shelton, and beloved sister to Albert A. Shelton of Springfield, Missouri, who survives. Born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, Lori graduated in 1978 from Lebanon High School, where she was named “Miss Magnet” her senior year, the school's highest honor. Even in her youth, she possessed a naturally magnetic personality that drew everyone to her-a rare trait beautifully recognized by her peers and faculty. Lori was also a varsity cheerleader all four years of high school, a rare achievement which she absolutely loved. Lori never stopped being a cheerleader, always rooting people on throughout her entire life.
She was a daughter of Christ, and God was her constant source of strength during each trial and tribulation, carrying her through every challenge and season with an inspiring courage and grace. Even during her terrible illness, Lori’s deeply rooted faith never wavered. She served as an inspiring example of perseverance to everyone around her, no matter the circumstances. Her remarkable resilience was matched only by her compassionate heart and the love she gave so freely to others.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 38 years, Kirk, with whom she raised three amazing children: Amy (Kyle) White, Alyssa (Schon) Carr, and J.T. (Ellen) Miller. Lori was also the beloved “Gigi” to Jackson, Clayton, Mayer, Andrew, Brighton, Georgia, and Lucy. Her world truly revolved around her husband, children, and those seven grandbabies-known affectionately as “The Big Blue Crew”!
She will be lovingly remembered by her large extended family and many dear friends, all of whom held a special place in her life. Lori was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and cousin to her family, and the ultimate friend to so many who had the honor of knowing her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and boundless devotion lives on through all of us whose lives she touched so deeply.
A celebration of Lori’s life will take place on Friday, November 6, 2026. Visitation will start at 9:30 AM, with the service following at 11:00 AM, both at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church, 15037 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, Missouri. Pastor Hugh Barlett will be officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life Luncheon hosted at The Commons Community Center, 14885 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, Missouri. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us as we gather to honor Lori's life, share memories, and celebrate the love she brought to all of us. To celebrate her, the family would ask those who attend to either wear pink, her favorite color; orange for kidney cancer awareness; or any pretty pastel color. This is a celebration to honor Lori’s beautiful life!
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 16200 Manchester Road, Wildwood, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Evelyn’s House Hospice Care to support their care and ministry. Please indicate the gift is in memory of Lori Miller to express the deep thanks and appreciation the Miller family has for the incredible love, care, dignity, and class Evelyn’s House showed Lori and our family during our most difficult of times. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lori Miller to Evelyn's House, in care of The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive West, Suite 140, St. Louis, MO 63110, or online at www.foundationbarnesjewish.org/Give-Hospice. When making an online gift, please select the Evelyn's House General Support Fund and include Lori Miller in the Tribute Information section.
