Obituary

Marie Elva Franklin (nee Torrence), peacefully joined the Lord and her loving husband, Billy on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Beloved wife of the late Billy W. Franklin. Loving mother of Kathy (Russ) Sharpmack, Jennie (Samm) Tague, Edward (Lynn) Franklin, Cliff (Jade) Franklin, William "Allen" (Patti) Franklin, and Sharon (Nick) Elliott. She is a beloved grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma. Loving sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend of many.

She graduated from Wellston High School in 1947 and carried throughout her life the warmth, energy, and strong sense of community that defined her hometown roots. Marie had a deep love for sailing and spent many happy days on their sail boat, the Trinity.  She also found much joy in traveling, sailing in the Caribbean with friends. Her passion and leadership led her to serve as commodore of her yacht club, a role she held with pride and enthusiasm.

Marie was also known for her talents in the kitchen. She was an amazing cook, and her cookies were legendary among family and friends. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-tending her garden, watching birds, and appreciating the beauty of nature around her.

She cherished time spent with loved ones, whether gathered around the table, working on puzzles together, or sharing laughter during happy hour with a gin and tonic or a pitcher of her favorite "panty rippers." Family meant everything to Marie, and the moments spent together at family gatherings were among her most treasured.
