Mark Steven
Dreyer
Nov 9, 1956 — Aug 14, 2026
Mark Steven Dreyer, 69, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on August 14, 2026, following a sudden and aggressive battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Mark was the devoted husband of Karen; proud father of Tess and her husband, Scott Barletta, Tim and his wife, Lindsay Dreyer, and Patty Dreyer; and loving Papa to Avery Mae, daughter of Patty.
Mark dedicated more than 45 years to his family's business, Mueller Industries, Inc., where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Intelligent, innovative, witty, patient, and endlessly curious, he was always working on a project, fixing something, sharing a random fact, or quietly finding a way to make life a little easier for someone he loved.
As a father, Mark loved gently, completely, and without condition. He nurtured, encouraged, mentored, protected, listened, and made sure his kids always knew they had someone in their corner. That instinct extended far beyond his own children—if someone needed a dad, Mark had a way of becoming one.
He loved music, family vacations, making Karen laugh, hearing his kids laugh, and calling just about everyone "hun." Nearly any lesson or interesting fact could begin with his signature phrase, "The beauty of it is…"
Mark's diagnosis came suddenly, and his battle with AML was far too brief. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories in the things that were so uniquely his: his quick wit and unmistakable sense of humor, his never-ending projects, the random facts and lessons he loved to share, and the comfort of simply knowing he was there. His presence was one that could be felt, and his absence will be felt just as deeply.
The beauty of it is, we were lucky enough to have 69 years with him—and the love, laughter, and lessons he gave us will remain long beyond them.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mark's life on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Schrader Funeral Home on Manchester Road. Visitation begins at 3:00 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m.
In Mark's memory, the family encourages those able to consider donating blood through the American Red Cross, as blood donations were an invaluable part of his care during his battle with AML.
Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
