Mark Alan "Buddy" Libby
Mark was the youngest of three sons to Merlin and Sue Libby. The family had several moves yet most of Mark’s childhood and high school years were in St. Louis, Missouri. Mark was fortunate to have several lifelong friends from St. Louis and college. These friends know him as “Buddy.” Mark earned a Civil Engineering Degree at the University of Missouri. Mark worked as a Structural Bridge Engineer. Mark married Stephanie Weable and had two sons, John and Michael. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, and Colorado Springs for large projects that Mark worked on. Mark became a Bridge Manager in Oregon and the family found their home state. Mark was passionate about volunteering for ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), Friends of the Historical Highway, and supporting veterans and homeless charities. The family enjoyed time camping, waterfalls, hiking, lakes, Pacific coast, croquet, video and board games. Vacations were going back to Missouri to see families and friends. Each son had a “son trip” with their Dad. Mark and Stephanie had a special anniversary road trip to Zion and Yosemite National Parks. During early retirement Mark helped his wife recover from an accident, gardening, and improved property with walkways. Mark supported Stephanie who was a caregiver to her mother Jo. Sitting on the back patio, listening to music, lighting a fire, steak and veggies on a flat top grill, “Son”day calls with Merlin & John, boardgames with Michael, and hot spring soaking with Stephanie were some of Mark’s favorite times.
Mark was preceded in death by his mom Sue, brother David (6/26), and mother-in-law Jo (8/26). Surviving are wife Stephanie, sons John and Michael, father Merlin, sister-in-law Sue, brother Rich (Elizabeth), nieces and a nephew.
