Beloved husband of Mary Lou Kanne (nee Timme) for 67 years; devoted father of Deborah (Donald) Billing, David (Elizabeth) Kanne, and Stephen (Kourtney) Kanne; cherished grandfather of Sarah Hart, Jonathan (Lindsey) Billing, Alyson Kanne, Andrew (Katherine) Kanne, Caroline Kanne, Jessica (Ethan) Atkins, Nicholas Kanne, Kael Christopher, and Kade Christopher; loving great grandfather of Adriana, Aiden (Abigail), Calvin, Amelia, Frances, Augustine, and Jo; dear great great grandfather of Luella; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Marv was born in St. Louis, MO to the late Charles and Mildred Kanne. He was one of five sons and like his father and brothers, Marv was active in the publishing business. He eventually rose to the position of Assistant to the Publisher and Vice President of Operations of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Those who met Marv knew him to be dedicated, loyal, a great listener, and a true gentleman.

When he was not spending time with his family he liked to read, fish, and play cards, shuffle board, and chess. Marv had unlimited love for his family, and his legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren.

Services: Visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Valley Park, Monday, March 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul .
