Mary Kathleen Assouad (née Battles), 82, of Sedalia, Mo., went to her heavenly home on April 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren and animals.

A graveside service and interment will take at Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 3306 Greenridge Road, Sedalia, MO 65301, Thursday, April 9 at 1 p.m.

Kathy was born in Sedalia on February 4, 1944 - one of three children (Bethy and Michael) to Richard and Freda Battles. She is survived by 10 children: Patrick, Pierre, Carmen, Andre, Jean-Paul, Justin, Tim, Sean, Inge and Grace, as well as 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved, and was loved, by all.

Kathy attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a bachelor's in French. She was a painter, a writer, an illustrator, a poet, a musician, a gardener, a builder, a linguist, a comedian, a couponer, a garage saler, a chef, a survivor, a mother, a friend, a lover of all things pink.

She gave her entire self to her beloved family. Kathy embodied her given name, Mary, a perfect image of the mother of our Lord, both of whom sacrificed all so we might live, and whom she also loved in faith and hope.

Jesus took her home to be with her mom, dad, sister, and the always-remembered child she longed to meet, waiting patiently with her other mommy, Auntie Bill.

Laughing beside a tall, thick Oak tree, in the arms of Jesus, we take comfort knowing she now experiences pure joy-watching over all of us as our guardian angel. And we know…

"It's amazing! It's amazing!"
