Obituary

She Prayed. He Answered.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Mary Louise Walker, 79, of Wildwood, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her dear husband, the late Dar Walker, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, one day prior to their 58th wedding anniversary.

Mary Louise was born on October 16, 1946 to Louis and Clara Leteux of Springfield, MO. Her creative talents were evident at a young age; she wrote poetry, sewed, sketched, painted, and crafted art throughout her formative years.

Mary Louise committed her life to Jesus Christ on May 25, 1973. This lifelong relationship carried her through many joys and challenges. She sought to serve her Lord, family, and community through Bible study, prayer, and service wherever they lived.

Mary Louise attended St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, MO, and received her BSN from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. She worked as a nurse in many capacities in hospitals where the family lived through the years in Missouri, South Carolina, Florida and Massachusetts.

She loved people; and was deeply devoted to her family.  Mary Louise and her beloved husband Dar were married in 1968, and were blessed with two imaginative, creative sons.

Mary Louise felt her family was always first in her heart and in her life, serving and supporting them in loving relationships and faithful prayer.
She enjoyed studying God's Word, oil painting, watercolor, acrylic, and Prismacolor. She also enjoyed needlework - knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and gardening.

She was a member of Arts as Healing, a dynamic cancer support group using the arts of painting and other art resources as healing from cancer within an encouraging, supportive community. She volunteered with Arts As Healing at Missouri Baptist Medical Center Cancer Center, bringing hope to those undergoing cancer treatment by sharing her story of God's grace and mercy to her and sharing art projects with others.

She was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2016 and bravely fought recurring cancer for 10 years, living with the purpose to honor, love, and serve her God and her family.

Mary Louise is survived by her two sons, Darwyn Walker of St. Louis, Nicholas (Nancy) Walker of Des Peres; and their children, Nicholas (Neva) Walker, Jr.; Gabriel Walker;  Jeremiah Walker and her sister Martha (Dick) Carson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis (Annette) Leteux.
