In Loving Memory of Matthew William Metter
It is with unimaginable heartbreak that we announce the passing of Matthew William Metter, age 19, born January 6, 2007, who left this world far too soon on August 3, 2026 following a tragic motorcycle accident.
Nineteen years was nowhere near enough time, but in those years, Matthew made an impact that will last a lifetime.
Matthew was the kind of person who was impossible to forget. He had a heart that was bigger than he ever realized and a way of making people feel like they mattered. He was deeply loved by his family, cherished by his friends, and loved by so many people whose lives he touched. His smile, his laugh, his sense of humor, and his charming personality brought light wherever he went.
He was still so young, with an entire life ahead of him. There were places he had yet to see, dreams he had yet to chase, and memories he had yet to make. His life was just beginning, making his loss all the more heartbreaking.
Matthew loved life with a passion that was uniquely his. He loved spending time with the people closest to him and he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into memories that those around him will treasure forever.
But perhaps what made Matthew most special was the love he gave to others. He was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend, friend, and so much more. To each person who loved him, he was something different-but to all of us, he was irreplaceable.
Those who knew Matthew will remember him not for the tragic way his life ended, but for the incredible way he lived it. We will remember his laugh. His smile. His hugs. His jokes. His stubbornness. His kindness. The little things he did that we may not have appreciated enough at the time. We will remember the way he made us feel simply by being there.
His absence will leave a space that can never truly be filled.
Matthew leaves behind a family who loved him beyond measure. He is survived by his mother, Jana Rea and stepfather Adam Rea, and his father Jeffrey Metter and his beloved brother Nicholas Metter. He was deeply loved by his grandparents, Harold and Connie Simms, who held a very special place in his heart.
He will also be forever loved and missed by his uncle and aunt, Rick and Kristi Metter, and their children, Richard and Nicole Metter; his aunt and uncle, Lana and Joe Bishop, and their daughter, Hannah Bishop and her fiancé, Travis Bauer; as well as his stepsisters and stepbrother, Kiley, Cohin, and Kennadi.
Among those who loved Matthew most deeply was his beloved girlfriend, Jessica Schultz. Jessica was a very special part of Matthew's life, and the love they shared will forever remain a cherished part of his story.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, grandmother, Peggy Ford and her husband, Sid Ford, and his grandfather Rick Metter.
Matthew leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends who loved him deeply. The number of people mourning his loss is a testament to the kind of person he was and the extraordinary impact he had in his short 19 years.
Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we are incredibly grateful that we were blessed to know him and love him. Nineteen years may seem far too short, but the love Matthew gave and the lives he touched will continue far beyond those 19 years.
He is loved. He loved. And he will never, ever be forgotten.
