Michael Douglas Coons

Michael Douglas Coons, 69, a resident of Ellisville, MO since 2019, a former longtime resident of Oswego, IL, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Town and Country, MO. He was born on October 28,1956 in Peoria, IL.

Beloved husband of 48 years to Diane L. Coons (nee Woods) to whom he married October 14, 1978, loving father of Bethany (Derrick) Cato of Wildwood, MO and Jonathan Coons of Glen Carbon, IL. Devoted son to the late Lewis and Frances Marnajean Coons (nee Groom), dear brother of Robert (Jan) Coons, Ted (Tina) Coons, Deann (Kyle) Dittman (nee Coons), and Nancy (Mark) Szachnitowski (nee Coons), the late James and Todd Coons. Proud grandfather to Robin Coons and Hannah, Lillian, and William Cato.

Mike was employed by MetLife and Mass Mutual for over 40 years. Mike was an enthusiastic fan of Chicago sports teams. He loved coaching his childrens’ sports teams and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid card player, loved going on fishing trips, and traveling throughout the United States and Canada.

A Memorial Visitation is being held at the Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, Wednesday October 28, 2026 from 1-5 PM at 14960 Manchester Rd at Holloway, Ballwin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Siteman Cancer Center tribute page in St. Louis, in Michael’s memory.
