Obituary

Nancy K. Fleming of Ballwin, Missouri and Hendersonville, North Carolina died Friday, June 19, 2026, in the comfort and loving care of her children.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband William (Bill) A. Fleming, loving parents: Bert and Eliner King, and her sister Elizabeth Herndon.

Nancy is survived by her sisters, Margaret Capell and Joan (Tom) Campbell; her children, William Andrew "Drew" Fleming Jr. (Rachel Henley) and Elizabeth (Kevin) Huonker; and her grandchildren, Allen White, Shannon Fleming, Eliner White, Will Fleming, James White, Danielle Fleming, Marion White, Jackson Huonker, and Nicholas Huonker.

Nancy was born in Pasadena California, traveling across the country for a short time in Florida and ending up in Hendersonville, NC, where Nancy grew up with her 3 sisters, parents and grandmother.

Hendersonville always felt like home to Nancy. Growing up, everyone knew and loved her family. Nancy was quiet, sharp, reserved, and loved reading a good book. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the local soda shop and working summers at Camp Kanuga. Her teachers adored her, and she set high expectations for her sisters in school. There was never an animal Nancy met that she didn't befriend. For her P.E. classes, she took equestrian and spent time riding, caring and competing with the horses she loved. She graduated from Hendersonville High and attended Mary Washington College at the University of Virginia at the early age of 16.

Nancy met Bill on a blind date while working in Atlanta. They were married at St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, NC in 1964. Bill's work took them to Long Island, NY and then back to Atlanta, GA. With two young children they moved to Ballwin, MO, where they lived for 50 plus years.

Bill and Nancy were devoted to each other, their family, and God. Nancy was an active member at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Good Shepherd, then Hope Episcopal Church. She served in the altar guild for many years. She was a homeroom mom, cub scout den mother and volunteer at Henry school. They continued their devotion to family with their 9 grandchildren, hosting sleepovers, attending plays, recitals, sporting events and milestones.

Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
