Paul D. Porch
March 15, 1932 - June 29, 2026
We are sad to share that Paul D. Porch peacefully departed this world on June 29, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on March 15, 1932, in Pekin, Illinois, Paul lived a life enriched with love, service, adventure, family, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Erma (Orth) Porch and Lorene Porch, brother Norman Porch, wife Janet Porch and stepson Robert Markland.
Paul's early years in Pekin, Illinois laid the foundation for a life filled with purpose and dedication. His started working by delivering newspapers on his tricycle and worked until his retirement from Interco in St. Louis in 1992.
After graduating from high school, Paul answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the US Air Force where he served from 1951 through 1955. He began with a tour of duty in Korea from 1951 to 1953 and shared stories with his children and grandchildren about the challenges they faced and lessons he learned during the war. By the time he returned Stateside, he was a Staff Sergeant and had an ultra top secret security clearance needed in his position as a security specialist in units attached to the Atomic Energy Commission and SAC.
Beginning in 1955, Paul attended Bradley University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Paul's professional journey saw him excel in the field of international benefits, where he lent his expertise to several notable companies, including Ralston Purina and Interco.
Above all, Paul was a man who cherished his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Mark Porch (Shannon), Ann Shields (Steve), and Julie Galloway (Stewart). His pride and joy were his grandchildren-Patrick Porch, Ryan Porch, Tavia Sinicki, Cory Markland, Emily Galloway, Rainbow Eagle Dreamer, and Rachel Galloway-along with his twelve great-grandchildren who filled his later years with adoration and warmth. There was always lots of laughter when Grandpa to some and Umpa to others was around. He also was close to his many nieces and nephews who shared time and adventures with their Uncle Paul.
Paul was a devoted husband to his late wife, Janet, with whom he shared a love for travel. Together, they explored the world creating cherished memories with family and friends. Paul's adventures were marked by his joy for life, curiosity, and deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him.
As we remember Paul's remarkable life, we find solace in the memories of wonderful times we shared and the lessons he imparted. He was loved by many and will be forever missed.
The family will have a celebration of his life at a later date.
