Obituary

Rath Thang, aged 52, of Phnom Penh, Cambodia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17th, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a Scorpio born on November 8th, 1973 to the late Mom Sang, Trudy McArdle, & Jerry McArdle.

Rath came to the U.S. as a young girl after escaping the Khmer Rouge. Although this transition wasn't easy you wouldn't have known. From learning English, being in a new environment, & meeting new people she handled it all with so much grace. She grew up in VT & attended Montpelier High School. She excelled at many sports such as cross country skiing, field hockey, swimming, camping, & much more. She loved the outdoors & adventures all her life.

After high school she ventured to the Midwest and settled in Missouri. A short time later started to build her family, which became her life's work. She loved being a mom & nana more than anything else, that was apparent if you talked to anyone who knew her. From parks, picnics, zoo trips, & countless other activities. She always found time to spend with her loved ones & make beautiful memories.

She worked very hard & without complaints to build the life she had. Traveled numerous places & enjoyed delicious food & made incredible amounts of strong connections & friendships along the way. It was truly admirable to witness.

The love, laughs, & knowledge will last a lifetime. Too pure & kind for this realm. We hope her beautiful legacy & memory never fades.

She is survived by: daughters: Mercedes Mangrum, Kyannah Redfield (Jermaal Meeks), Lynesha Redfield ; son: David C. Redfield ; grandsons: Jayden Redfield, Jayshawn Meeks, Jojo Meeks ; father of children: David L. Redfield ; grandmother of children: Bonnie Redfield ; sister: Chanra Arends (Josh Arends) ; brother in law: Paul Redfield (Jennifer Redfield) ; sister in law: Sandra Avetta ; nieces: Lana Arends, Ellie Redfield, Kaylee Redfield, Destiny Demma, Summer Funke, Angelica Funke ; nephew: Luke Arends ; and many many more family & friends.
