Robert Jackson
"Bob" Paul
Sep 14, 1942 — Jun 24, 2026
St. Charles
Robert Jackson "Bob" Paul, 83, passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2026.
Born on September 14, 1942, in Eastman, Georgia, he was raised in Statesboro until leaving to pursue his college education. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. While at Georgia Tech, he was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He went on to enjoy a distinguished 34-year career with McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. As an engineer, he contributed to the design and development of two iconic military aircraft, the F/A-18 Hornet and the AV-8B Harrier. While he was proud of his professional accomplishments, those who knew Bob understood that his greatest achievement was the family he loved so deeply.
Bob built a life rooted in faith, family, humility, and hard work. Bob shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda Jean Paul. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, unwavering support, and countless memories. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Kristin Paul and her husband, Bob Pratt, and Robin Roeder and her husband, Chip. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Reagan Roeder and Chase Roeder, whose activities and accomplishments brought him immeasurable joy.
Although Bob was a quiet man, his actions spoke volumes. He lived his faith in Jesus every day, leading not through words, but through kindness, integrity, humility, and service to others. He was the steady presence his family could always count on and the example they will strive to follow. Every Christmas, before presents were opened, Bob would read the story of the birth of Jesus from the Bible. It became one of his family's most cherished traditions and a reflection of the faith that guided his life.
Nothing brought Bob greater joy than being with his family. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his daughters and grandchildren at their activities. He loved watching Kristin play basketball, Robin dance, Reagan cheer and dance, and Chase compete on the baseball diamond and football field. Whether it meant early mornings, late nights, or long drives across many states, or whether it was a school event, a sporting event, or a family gathering, Bob was always there quietly cheering from the sidelines, offering unwavering encouragement and unconditional love.
Bob found happiness in life's simple pleasures - summer vacations at the beach, relaxing by the pool, giving tractor rides, gathering around bonfires with family, and enjoying coffee, donuts, and long car rides with Linda. With the mind of an engineer, he loved solving problems and could seemingly fix anything or find a way to make it work again. There wasn't much he couldn't build, repair, or improve. His intelligence was matched only by his patience, humility, and generosity.
Bob is proceeded in death by his father, Edwin Childs Paul and his mother Thelma Jackson Paul Adams. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Jean Paul; his daughters, Kristin Paul and her husband, Bob Pratt, and Robin Roeder and her husband, Chip; his cherished grandchildren, Reagan Roeder and Chase Roeder; his siblings, Edwina Morris, Jack Paul, and Alice Paul; along with many extended family members and dear friends who were blessed by his quiet example and steadfast love.
Philippians 2:3-4
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Bob lived exactly that kind of life.
Bob never sought recognition. He simply showed up, with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. He was always there.
For his wife.
For his daughters.
For his grandchildren.
For anyone who needed him.
Matthew 25:21
"Well done, good and faithful servant!"
